In the first week of 2022, two other Indian internet startups, Mamaearth and Fractal Analytics, either became unicorns or reached a valuation of $ 1 billion. Seven more, each valued at more than $ 600 million, are in the works, including Ecom Express, OneScore and Jupiter Money, according to Venture Intelligence. This is the dynamic that continues from 2021: last year India added 44 unicorns, two more than the cumulative number of the previous nine years. After the United States and China, India now has the most unicorns.

India has also moved closer to more developed ecosystems in terms of pace and capital to produce unicorns. In 2021, Indian companies spent an average of 4.3 years between Series A funding and unicorn status, according to Tracxn. This is down from 6.9 years in 2020 and is closer to the five-year global average of 4.2 years. Likewise, Indian startups that turned unicorns through 2020 raised an average of $ 414 million reaching a valuation of $ 1 billion, compared to $ 346 million in the United States. For Indian unicorns in 2021, that figure fell to $ 395 million, indicating richer valuations than before.

Diversity on many fronts has accompanied progress in terms of scale and valuation. Against the previous dominance of e-commerce, the 2021 unicorns included 18 fintech companies and four health tech companies. Five unicorns had female leaders, according to EMA Partners. While Bengaluru still dominates, the geographic distribution is better. Likewise, while Tiger Global, Sequoia Capital and Accel each made double-digit deals, there were also 60 other investors. What is true for unicorns is also true for the startup ecosystem.

Location, location

Between 2010 and 2015, Bengaluru had more new startups (5,541) than Delhi NCR and Mumbai combined, according to the Bengaluru Innovation Report 2019. Since then, the city has been behind Delhi NCR. During the three-year period between 2016 and 2018, Delhi saw the creation of new businesses 1.5 times more than Bengaluru (5,598 versus 3,795). Between 2019 and 2021, the gap widened further to 1.7 times (4,520 versus 2,656).

However, when it comes to fundraising, Bengaluru continues to lead the rankings, with a share of 49% over the past three years. It is followed by Delhi NCR and Mumbai. Fundraising was once difficult for startups outside of these three cities, although Chennai, Pune and Hyderabad have seen better funding in recent years. In 2021, startups from 15 cities outside the top five, like Ahmedabad, Ernakulam and Jhansi, raised funds. As remote working intensifies, this trend could accelerate.

Follow the money

Overall, Indian startups raised around $ 39 billion in 2021, a three-fold increase from the $ 13 billion in 2020, according to data from Tracxn. Various groups of investors are at the origin of this dynamic. These include venture capital firms (Sequoia, Tiger, Accel, Titan and Blume depending on the number of investments), private equity funds (Temasek, Westbridge and Lightrock), accelerators and incubators (Y Combinator, 9Unicorns and Venture Catalysts) and companies (Tencent and Google).

In a 2021 report, Bain Capital said that India’s venture capital industry has gone through four distinct phases: investor optimism towards first-generation startups (2011 to 2015); maturity and moderation (2016-17); exits and emergence of new sectors (2018-19); and disruption of covid-19 (2020-21). The past year was marked by several factors, including the debut of stock market listing and the keen interest of new investors. There were 1,145 top investors in Indian startups in 2021, up 62% from 2020 and the highest on record.

Technological disruption

This investor interest in India has been motivated by multiple factors. The pandemic has accelerated digitization across all sectors, giving tech companies a boost. In an October 2021 report released by IVCA and Preqin, Manish Kheterpal of WaterBridge Ventures said, “The tech sector will have a market share of at least $ 750 billion in an Indian economy of 4.5 to 500 billion. billion dollars by 2030 … golden decade for Indian venture capital and technological innovation. “

China has played two key roles in the evolution of the Indian start-up and finance space. Its own crackdown on the tech sector made investors think twice and some of the money was transferred to India instead. Meanwhile, in 2020 India banned a bunch of Chinese apps, including ByteDance’s popular short video app, TikTok. A number of Indian companies have jumped in to fill the void. Social commerce companies, including Sharechat and Verse, raised $ 1.4 billion in 2021, nearly 13 times more than in 2020 and the highest-funded category in 2021. Until 2022.

Technology in Cars Today: Should There Be a Limit https://evolutioninternational.net/technology-in-cars-today-should-there-be-a-limit/ Mon, 10 Jan 2022 10:05:00 +0000 https://evolutioninternational.net/technology-in-cars-today-should-there-be-a-limit/ To what extent do we have to give up control of our cars? To what extent do we have to give up control of our cars?

BHPian pd1108 recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

I read in a Guardian article that due to a technical issue with the app, hundreds of Tesla users have been banned from their cars. It got me thinking – how far should we give up control of our cars? Here is the link to the news.

Here is a list of things we have / are giving up:

  • Automatic gear change – or speed control to use
  • Cruise Control – or speed control
  • ADAS system – or driving control
  • Application-based utilities – or manage the car remotely

The list goes on. And that’s where we’ve already delegated control to technology.

So my question to my friends is when should we say – as much and not more?

Here is what BHPian TorqueMonster had to say about it:

I don’t think there should be a total limit on technology, just making sure that the technology becomes advanced and more usable in nature.

For automatic cars, they basically made driving easier for everyone. Gone are the days of primitive 3-4 speed automatic gearboxes (except Maruti which is still stuck on 4), now we have automatic gearboxes that are fuel efficient and even fun to drive, all of these things are a total godsend in town and for daily use. Automatics have taught thousands of people to drive, enticing people to use cars when they wouldn’t have bought them otherwise. It has relieved anyone who wants to drive cars but doesn’t like constant shifting, the ease that ATs provide is great.

Ditto with the cruise control. While not useful on most Indian highways, it helps to just nibble on highway miles when it can be applied.

As for ADAS, why would humans really oppose a technology that would make their travel safer? ADAS will make driving safer for humans. Even though technology takes precedence over driving, it is for a good cause of safe driving.

Application-based systems are only in their infancy and manufacturers who install them in cars are at a disadvantage as customers are stuck with pre-mature technology. But, in the future, as the world continues to control our phones, it will be very helpful.

I agree that Tesla’s app-based system isn’t the best, and definitely a downside. But in general, the automotive world has only benefited from the growth of technology, and to me, any limitation on technology is like deliberately ignoring what the future might be.

I just hope companies spend more time perfecting their technology, instead of throwing half-baked technology at consumers, to avoid incidents like the Tesla incident mentioned here.

Here is what BHPian aargee had to say about it:

Here are some of the things we gave up:

Due to the hill-hold assist functions, we may soon be missing the hand brakes as well.

The point is, as evolution progresses humans adapt for the greater good of mankind; the only limit is our imagination and as long as there are dreams, there is progress, there is evolution, there are no limits to technology.

Here is what BHPian railfanwithk750 had to say about it:

No amount of technology would hurt, as long as there is a human “overshoot”. An AI-based algorithm or a cloud-based application shouldn’t have 100% control over any aspect of our life, be it our cars, our TVs or our phones.

If the technology is there for “support,” I should have full control over whether to seek full support, partial support, or turn it off completely without affecting any other functionality of the gadget or device.

Here is what Ampere BHPian had to say about it:

In my opinion, there are three aspects to this:

  • As long as technology remains a good servant and does not become the master, we are good. And we have to let it stay that way.
  • The reliability of the technology is the biggest threat to its adoption. Dependence and reliability are two sides of the same coin.
  • Last, but not least, is the rate of its adoption. In confluence with the previous one, it is also inevitable that some sections will switch to the newer technology earlier than others. So as long as this technology is made for self-consumption there is no problem. But at a time when one must also depend on others for the success of technology, this is a larger community issue (ADAS is a case in point).

It makes no sense to compare Pokemon Legends Arceus to the main series https://evolutioninternational.net/it-makes-no-sense-to-compare-pokemon-legends-arceus-to-the-main-series/ Sun, 09 Jan 2022 15:06:00 +0000 https://evolutioninternational.net/it-makes-no-sense-to-compare-pokemon-legends-arceus-to-the-main-series/ Pokemon Legends Arceus is slated for release this month, and Nintendo has announced its launch with more trailers. Pokemon Legends Arceus is slated for release this month, and Nintendo has announced its launch with more trailers. While Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl have been a colossal disappointment for me, having a Pokemon game that I’m passionate about is a good band-aid to place on that wound. But there is a problem.

If you’re on the internet and read Pokemon occasionally, you’ll know what I’m talking about. You probably see a lot of targeted posts on social media that all say the same thing about Pokemon Legends Arceus. Titles like “Pokemon Legends Arceus Removes Fan Favorite Feature” or something like “Pokemon Fans Disappointed With Change In Last Game”. Well, this article exists for one reason and only one, to remind you that it’s okay to ignore this mess.

Watch the latest trailer. I watched it with my six year old, who kept saying how wonderful they found the game to be. We keep forgetting that these games are for young players. And sometimes we get lucky and can enjoy it as adults too.

Pokemon Legends Arceus is not just a new Pokemon game as most of these articles indicate. This is a new TYPE of Pokémon game. This isn’t a main game where your character goes into a Pokemon obsessed world and collects gym badges, sometimes stopping for a brief moment to stop a goofy criminal family from fundamentally altering the properties of space and space. time. This is a game where, if you want to compare it to anything, it would be almost more like a Monster Hunter type game where only your pets can fight.

So why did we decide that Pokemon Legends Arceus should be compared to the main games? Of course, the game will not have any abilities. There will be no random encounters. It won’t have a large card connected and rather small cards relating to the quest you are on. But these are things that work for this particular game. These are necessary steps to create the different type of game that Game Freak is looking for. It almost makes sense to complain that Pokemon Legends Arceus doesn’t have any hidden abilities as it does to complain that Pokemon Snap didn’t have traditional battles. I don’t know why we started doing this with games. It scares the evolution of titles.

Imagine a world where Donkey Kong Country came out and people got mad that you didn’t play as Mario anymore, so people avoided it. Where Ocarina of Time was swept away because it removed the top-down method from previous Legend of Zelda games. Where Metroid Prime was avoided to be played in first person.

Nintendo

Let’s face it. Game Freak really got into a corner. There are so many Pokémon that it’s hard to include them all now. And honestly, while you and I and anyone could probably sit down for ten minutes and imagine at least a couple of new achievable Pokémon, it doesn’t make sense to add a lot of new ones because there are some. too much.

One of the only ways the Pokemon series can really last is by coming up with something new that works and I think it could. We can’t just have eight gyms game after game and a global threat. It’s dead.

Even Sword and Shield, a game I really enjoyed, felt trapped having to adhere to the traditional gym badge setup. It was almost as if the characters themselves were confused because they had to stick to the same thing, with some of the gym leaders almost absolutely irrelevant to the plot and only there to make sure. that there were eight leaders of the gymnasium.

So how about complaining that your meatloaf is not good because it doesn’t taste like an orange, maybe accept that meatloaf as its own thing and judge it? on its merits. Look at what it is instead of comparing it to something that it clearly isn’t. Give things a chance and stop comparing them to past experiences. In play and in life. You will be happier.

While Android Auto as a whole is evolving at a very rapid pace, with Google apparently being much more committed to improving the overall experience, there are several mistakes that still need to be addressed.

One of the most troublesome was reported in 2021 and has yet to receive an official fix.

Users running Android Auto in their cars discovered that their phone’s keyboards were completely dead after disconnecting the mobile device from the main unit inside the cabin. This behavior appears to be caused by Android Auto, as keyboard apps are only interrupted each time the app is launched in the car.

Google has already confirmed that it is investigating the issue, but until the search giant comes up with a full fix, people are trying all kinds of workarounds to restore their keyboards to their expected behavior.

First of all, it is important to know that the issue is triggered regardless of the keyboard app that is running on the device. It doesn’t matter if you are still using the native keyboard or a third-party alternative like Microsoft SwiftKey, they all end up getting broken after you disconnect the phone from the main unit.

Thanks to someone who posted on the Google Forums, we now have a fix that seems to work for a lot of people.

It all comes down to one option that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense in the first place. It turns out that in some cases Android Auto allows wireless connectivity even on a main unit where such a feature does not exist and therefore requires a cable to make the connection.

This option prevents keyboard apps from launching after shutting down Android Auto.

So you need to launch Android Auto on your mobile device and go to the settings screen. Look for an option called Wireless Android Auto and make sure it’s turned off. This way, you can force the app to stop searching for wireless connection and keep the cable.

Close the app and the next time you close Android Auto, the keyboard app should work normally.

Like every weekend, we meet at NextPit for a selection of 5 free or paid applications and mobile games that have drawn our attention on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. Welcome to another edition of the 5 apps of the week.

Since our usual curator – and resident note-taking app evangelist – Antoine is on vacation, we’ve had to scour the internet to bring in the best possible apps that aren’t data traps or microtransaction nests. As always, we shed light on the gems uncovered by the NextPit Community and shared on our forum – thank you, Luna!

Metriport (Android and iPhone)

Following on from last week’s suggestions to help you keep your New Years Resolutions, our first suggestion is Metriport. The app is a powerful yet easy to use tool to record your wellness, health and all kinds of goals using the smartphone.

In the default mode, the app helps you keep track of your daily life, offering you to record your day, what you ate, activities performed, etc., like a diary, including the ability to set daily reminders to add your daily data. Metriport uses the data to present graphs to show your progress over time, with many options for customization, saving and exporting.

Metriport can optionally sync your data with Googie Fit or Apple Health. Other than that, the app requires an account, but according to the developers, all data is encrypted. Unfortunately, even simple features like biometric authentication to lock down data access require a subscription, which costs $ 39.99 per year.

ColorSlurp (iOS)

If you’ve ever needed to create color palettes for design projects, you’ve probably spent hours researching the perfect combinations. ColorSlurp promises to help you with this process, branding itself as “the best color picker in the universe”.

Also available for macOS, this Apple-only app can use iPhone’s camera to pick colors from everything around you – keep in mind that iOS’s camera can change the saturation of colors. colors – or from any image on film.

You can organize different colors in palettes (called “Collections” in the app), export them to different formats – 8-bit RGB, HTML, CSS, JSON, etc. – and Pro users can even sync playlists using iCloud after paying $ 2.99, or $ 7.99 for macOS sync.

Suggest (Android and iOS)

Suggestify is a (really) niche app for creating polls and surveys, which also has a social element, where you can participate and respond to other people’s polls. The app is easy to use and has a nice interface, and you can skip the social aspects to directly create polls, don’t forget to turn off app notifications; otherwise, you might be inundated with alerts for new surveys created by other users.

You can use images including animated GIFs and free images, create Q&A, or just create meme-like images to share on Facebook, WhatsApp, or other apps.

The app can use your Apple or Google account for syncing, but you can use the app without signing in. Some features need to be unlocked by paying a subscription, but the basic features are enough to check if you like the app.

  • Price: To free / Ads: Yes / Integrated purchasing: Yes / Account: Not required

Notifications for new polls are annoying, but you can turn them off to create and share your questions and polls / © NextPit

Fancy clock widget (Android)

Are you missing the good old days of analogue clocks? Looking for ways to personalize your Android phone’s home screen with a custom clock widget? Fancy Clock Widget can help you solve this problem.

As the name suggests, the app offers a simple round clock widget that can be personalized with background images, including the ability to use images from your phone’s gallery. You can also change the outline, numbers, and even arm types.

Some of the options are not free but can be unlocked by watching an advertisement in the app. The only thing that couldn’t help me was to create a tasteful widget. And unfortunately, you can only customize one widget at a time.

  • Price: free / Ads: Yes, optional / Integrated purchasing: no / Account: not required

Hope your designs will be better than mine / © NextPit

Sunny days (Android and iOS)

Sunshine Days is an early access game with some similarities to Nintendo’s Animal Crossing franchise. Explore your village and make it as comfortable as possible, build a cozy house, interact with your friends and neighbors and of course take care of your garden.

The game has a cute ??, perfect for taking screenshots and sharing them on social media. The relaxed vibe helps pass the time, especially on a rainy day – or any restrictions related to a pandemic. You start to customize your character with many options which can be combined into thousands of combinations.

Keep in mind that the game is still in development, so it’s still not clear how the developers will monetize it. Currently, Sunshine Days is free of ads and in-app purchases, but that may change when it officially launches. Also beware of game crash bugs.

  • Price: To free / Ads: No / Integrated purchasing: No / Account: Not required

Android Auto continues to evolve, no doubt about it, as Google seems to be much more committed to improving the experience with the app in the long run.

In fact, the Mountain View-based search giant is investing a lot in the overall in-car experience because it wants users to stay connected to Google services even while driving.

This is why Android Auto and Android Automotive regularly benefit from new features and improvements.

Today, it’s Android Auto’s turn to benefit from a new set of improvements, since the parent company has just released the very first update of the year. Android Auto 7.2 is therefore available for download now, but keep in mind that the deployment of Google Play is done in stages.

This means that not everyone gets the new version on day one, so it may take a while for it to appear on your device. In the meantime, you can just download the APK installer and manually update Android Auto to version 7.2.

As for what’s new in this update, it’s something we’ll all have to find out for ourselves. As per its usual approach, Google did not provide a changelog for this Android Auto update, although there are currently several critical things that need to be fixed in the app.

For example, the experience with the Google Pixel 6 has so far been a nightmare for many people, and the company has already started the investigation to find a fix. It’s not yet clear if updating to version 7.2 produces an improvement for Pixel 6 users, but hopefully it won’t take too long before the app works flawlessly on this device.

It remains to be seen if there is a big change in Android Auto 7.2, as the rollout is still in the early hours at this time.

I’ve been looking forward to getting a glimpse of what the people at Humane are working on for years. The company, founded by Apple inventors Bethany Bongiorno and Imran Chaudhri, was launched in 2019 and has kept its work completely secret. Humane’s website said the company’s mission is to create “innovative technology that feels familiar, natural and human.” They want to build “the best human experience ever”. It’s a tall order, and so far what that meant was unclear.

Fund

Imran Chaudhri was at Apple from 1995 to 2016, and his name has been featured on hundreds of patents for groundbreaking user interface inventions. One of them is the infamous “Slide to unlock” patent. Chaudhri is also responsible for the design of the iPhone home screen, among many other macOS and iOS conventions. Bethany Bongiorno was at Apple from 2008 to 2016 and helped lead software development for iPhone, iPad, and later the Mac. Both appeared at WWDC 2016 to showcase new features in Messages, marking their first major public appearance in the business. But a few months later, the duo left the company.

In 2019, they announced they were launching their own tech company called Humane and recruited dozens of former Apple employees who have worked on other legendary products. Ken Kocienda, the creator of the iPhone’s touchscreen keyboard, joined the company in December 2020 as a product architect. Gary Schulz, a member of Apple’s industrial design group from 2007 to 2019, joined Humane in August last year as a senior industrial designer. Humane’s chief services officer, Jeremy Werner, oversaw the engineering for iCloud, Apple Pay, Home, and more. These names are only scratching the surface. Almost 50% of Humane’s workforce are former Apple employees. Everything they’re working on is interesting enough to pique the interest of some of the best and brightest inventors of our time.

Our friends from 9to5Google recently discovered a patent issued in 2020 that shows what appears to be a “body worn device” that “does not include a screen, allowing the user to continue to interact with friends, family and colleagues without being immersed in a screen. ”Interestingly,“ minimal user interaction ”seems to be the primary focus of the product.

A user would wear a “laser projection system” that can turn any surface around you into a screen that can be removed when you no longer need it. It is essentially projected augmented reality. According to the patent,

Laser projection can label objects, provide text or object instructions, and provide an ephemeral user interface (eg, keyboard, numeric keypad, device controller) that allows the user to compose messages , control other devices or just share and discuss content with others.

Humane’s product apparently includes a camera, a 3D camera, and a depth sensor. Combined, these three components can identify objects in the real world and apply digital images to them. Humane’s product is certainly not a set of smart glasses, but rather a combination of the camera body and a portable battery. The product patent also features a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, heart rate sensor, and the ability to connect headphones.

Android

In addition to discovering patents, 9to5Google also looked at job postings at the company and found plenty of comments on Android’s development. Like many other tech companies, it looks like Humane is not developing its own dedicated operating system, but rather a fork of Android. Meta used Android to create the Oculus operating system with its own app platform. Humane seems to be planning a similar situation with an ecosystem of apps specifically geared towards its version of Android. Examples mainly include lifestyle apps for “personal live broadcast”, “senior watch”, “memory recall” and “personal guide”.

It’s fascinating to see so many former Apple software developers seemingly working with Android, a platform many see as a direct clone of their work. It’s unclear why Imran, Bethany, and many others left Apple to join Humane, but you can assume they didn’t agree with the company’s current vision. Humane seems to be creating products that fit more naturally into your world and offer a much healthier feature set to improve your quality of life. They clearly don’t want to create another screen that you get glued to and addicted to.

Duopoly effect

Using Android makes a lot of sense in the grand scheme of things. There are two established software platforms for mobile devices: iOS and Android. One of them is untouchable and the other is infinitely malleable. Previously, I expected Humane to develop its own operating system from scratch given the number of former Apple software engineers the company has hired. But due to the duopoly that forced even Meta to abandon its plan to create a dedicated VR / AR operating system, Humane likely chose Android because it already has a solid foundation to work with.

Render of the alleged Apple headset (Ian Zelbo)

While it’s disappointing to see another company forced to work with one of the two mobile operating systems rather than create something entirely new, it’s still exciting. This will be the first time we see the perspective of Apple’s pioneers on Android.

Retain talent

Apple appears to be struggling to retain top talent, as many have left the company for competitors. As I said above, almost 50% of Humane employees worked at Apple. From creative directors and purchasing managers to long-time engineers, people from all walks of Apple have joined Humane.

More recently, Apple has started offering large stock bonuses to some employees in an attempt to get them to stay with the company. It is not clear why people leave so often, however. This can be for several reasons. It could be visions of a duel or something as boring as massive pay raises. But regardless, people have left big teams at Apple, and that’s obviously not good for tech companies.

Expectations

My expectations are extremely high for Humane. The caliber of people the company has recruited to lead the development of its first product is simply exceptional. It has attracted the brightest minds in the field of technological input. Hopefully, the talent of the company will be able to make the first truly awesome ambient computing product that doesn’t interfere with our lives and our health. It seems that they build a subtle natural supplement to our body rather than an addictive extension.

There is something quite admirable about this. This group has developed products that have shaped the lives of billions of people over the past decades. You could argue that this is a course correction, that they are not happy with the way people have become addicted to technology. I’m sure that’s part of the story, but I also see it as a natural development.

Almost all of the big companies in the valley are working to put screens on our faces. Apple, Google, Meta, and Microsoft are all working hard to develop what they believe is the next phase in the evolution of consumer technology products. But Humane is developing a countertop product that seems to offer much of the same functionality without putting ubiquitous glasses on your face. It’s clear that the future of mobile technology is changing the world, it’s just a matter of who does it best.

Over the air updates (OTAs) have become trivial these days and many automakers are already upgrading their cars remotely using this trick. The latest in the game is Rivian, and so their first customers have been blessed this week with an OTA update. Based on feedback shared on the forums, the update went well, although the back screen no longer works.

Rivian is still new to the market and its R1 line of cars didn’t start delivery until last November. This means that owners haven’t had a chance to experience an OTA update so far. You see their excitement when they finally got one and we have to say we’re impressed that it happened sooner than expected. This is by no means a big update, but an update meant to fix a few bugs here and there, just to make things smoother aboard the R1T and R1S.

And they went easier, judging by the favorable comments on social media. No one has reported any bugs with the new update, except the back screen is locked for now. This was already covered in the release notes, however. The update process was documented by user “Iwantatesla” in the Rivian forums, who also mentioned that everything seemed “much faster” after the update. He also praised his R1T as one of the best vehicles ever made, so I guess he should change his nickname to something like “notatesla”.

Returning to the OTA update, the on-screen notice shows that this should improve the performance of an R1 vehicle. As we zoom in, we see that the update covers items ranging from Bluetooth connectivity to the improved navigation app. Various user interface improvements were also on the menu, with smoother transitions between apps as well as performance improvements to the infotainment system. More importantly, the new update brings improved security to the Driver + suite, especially for the Highway Assist system.

We’re happy to see Rivian taking the time to fix bugs in their car software, and even happier to see the updates deliver tangible improvements to users, without spoiling other things. As for the non-functional rear screen, some users pointed out that it behaved badly before. Maybe Rivian has decided to shut it down until they know what to do, but they promise to fix it for the next OTA update.

Android Auto and CarPlay have become indispensable tools in the technological arsenal of many modern drivers and given that everyone has a phone in their pocket, it goes without saying that their adoption is increasing as well.

On the other hand, it is difficult to estimate how many people actually use Android Auto and CarPlay, as the download figures published on the Google Play Store are not an accurate indicator in this regard, especially since a device can install the app multiple times.

Google, however, has finally shared some adoption numbers for Android Auto, revealing how many people are using its app while driving.

There are currently 150 million cars equipped with Android Auto, although Google has not provided any further details on this figure.

In theory, Google is probably referring to newer models that have Android Auto out of the box, but on the other hand, there are plenty of ways to use the app in older cars as well. One of the most popular is the head unit upgrade, as installing a new receiver in just about any car allows Android Auto to run on a cord or wirelessly.

Previous figures revealed by Google regarding the adoption of Android Auto indicated that more than 100 million cars were equipped with the wireless version of the app. Indeed, Google recalls that most new cars are equipped with Android Auto wireless, but the figure of 150 million seems to include both versions of the application.

While the adoption of Android Auto is growing, Google is also investing heavily in Android Automotive.

Compared to Android Auto, Android Automotive is installed at the hardware level, so it does not require a mobile phone to power the driving experience. Android Automotive is a continuously growing platform, so earlier this week the company announced that YouTube also becomes available for this operating system when the car is parked.
