Four decades strong; Emporia Farmers Market kicks off its 40th outdoor season on Saturday
Winter has passed and spring has arrived, which meant the parking lot at 702 Commercial was packed Saturday morning as the Emporia Farmer’s Market kicked off its 40th outdoor season.
Along with the usual selection of local produce and produce available for purchase, visitors were treated to live music and a celebratory cake recognizing the market’s fourth decade of business. Manager Trisha Fullerton was very pleased with the day’s turnout and even more pleased with the perfect weather conditions.
Fullerton says this year has seen an evolution in the types of vendors and products offered in the marketplace. She says the continuous evolution and expansion is one of the main reasons the market continues to go from strength to strength after 40 years of existence.
Saturday’s market followed the start of the Olpe market season on Monday and the Allen season on Thursday. The Emporia Farmer’s Market will run from 8:30am to 10:30am every Saturday through October.
