RiseNY is a new attraction combining museum exhibit galleries with a majestic theme park-style ride where visitors can experience the ultimate in flight sensation as they soar over New York City like they’ve never seen it before. The city’s first-ever flight simulation flight opens on December 15 at 160 West 45th Street.
The 46-seat merry-go-round is a state-of-the-art, world-class flying theater that offers visitors of all ages a unique bird’s-eye view of the Big Apple. Once visitors are on board, inside a 180 degree, 40 foot projection dome with 8k aerial imagery that creates a sensation of flight. They are lifted 30 feet in the air and will remain suspended with their feet dangling as they fly over the skyline and iconic New York landmarks.
“RiseNY is a unique and exhilarating attraction in the heart of New York City,” said Ric Burns. “This is an incredible love letter to the greatest city in the world and sums up the beating heart, hub and dazzling focal point that is New York. We were delighted to have a small part in this adventure, which promises to put a smile on the faces of all those who sail.
The ride will include a full motion plunge, turn and take off from the seat, with wind, mist and scents to enhance the visitor experience. To further evoke the spirit of being in New York, the ride will include a soundtrack called “Welcome to New York” by Taylor Swift and “Theme From New York” by Frank Sinatra.
The experience begins with a captivating film by award-winning documentary filmmakers Ric Burns and James Sanders. The film is narrated by actor Jeff Goldblum and will feature the history of New York City, specifically Times Square and its global impact. Visitors begin their journey in a recreation of the city’s first metro station at City Hall circa 1904 and will conclude a current metro car by virtually transporting guests to the galleries.
The journey continues through New York’s vibrant pop-cultural evolution to see its indelible impact on the world. With seven distinct themed galleries including Finance, Skyline, TV / Radio, Fashion, Music, Broadway, Film, and more. Some of the highlights that visitors can see are Madonna’s custom Keith Haring jacket, Beyonce’s Bill Blass designed dress and more.
RiseNY will be open every day except Tuesday. The hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. The last tickets are sold 60 minutes before closing.
Tickets for RiseNY start at $ 24.00. Special prices are also available for children (under 12), seniors (65 and over), students (with student ID), veterans and acting military. Special savings for groups of 10 or more with advance reservations.
